Alicia Candeias, LAC

Alicia is a New Jersey Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) compassionately devoted to providing a holistic, culturally sensitive, and empathetic environment. She holds her Ed.S. in Professional Counseling and Master’s degree in School Counseling from Seton Hall University, as well as her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Stockton University. Alicia has expertise in several settings, including school, agency, and private practice, aiding individuals in navigating interpersonal concerns, mood disorders, life transitions, anxiety disorders, grief and loss, and complex trauma. Alicia is also a passionate advocate of women and women’s issues, from adolescence through adulthood, and supports them in developing a graceful understanding of their journey.
Alicia understands how our earliest experiences influence our worldview and strives to help individuals appreciate the intricacies of their identities and relationships. Through professional clinical training and experience with Person-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Theory, Polyvagal Theory, Motivational Interviewing, and experiential, creative-arts interventions, Alicia strives to build a therapeutic relationship built upon validation and respect. With authenticity and humor, she provides a calm space where painful journeys and emotions can be explored, and wounds can be healed.
In her free time, Alicia enjoys spending time with her partner (& four cats!), family, and friends, creating art, listening to true crime podcasts, and soaking up the sun. She practices grounding and reflective activities that support her mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing, such as yoga, meditation, cooking, and involvement in animal rescues.
